SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS 1

At the end of July, after several weeks of pool and academic work, two of our keenest diving students certified in Stoney Cove. Both days were blessed with good weather and visibility, though not at its best, was satisfactory. All four dives went according to plan... These student divers are special for two reasons. First they are the children of club members, secondly they are both just twelve years of age. As you might expect parents were in attendance on both days, acting as Instructor's Assistants and as Shore Marshalls.

Our congratulations go to Leanne Hall and Jonathan Hampshire on achieving PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification, shortly after their 12th Birthdays.

TheProject Weekend went very well... Four days of subsidised diving out of the RIBs... Two day dives on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, One on the Monday. One Night Dive - on the "Baggy" on the Saturday night... Cheap accommodation or daily driving as selected by Club Members. The general concensus is that the weekend was a great success... and we will repeat the formula, giving as much notice as possible....It was a good weekend for video and photos too...
UK Waters, Sept 02
Of course such weekend are not without interest....
We found that certain people, and booze, and Tent guy ropes do not mix well...
Then there was Tony Curtis's bargain camping chair, which remained intact for almost 1 hour, before self -modifying into a sort of "recliner"... good value at £5 we all thought, as it went in the skip is was described as a "disposable self-establishing reclining garden chair/lounger". As with so many of these weeknds there were those not prepared and those over-prepared. One or two objected to the smell of Bacon and Eggs first thing in the morning.. and to the incineration of beans and sausages late at night... The snoring contest continues but Paul C wins the prize for quick-starting! There there was the night we set off the campsite alarm coming back from a Social Evening...
The diving was excellent, with good visibility, day and night. The boats worked well, the shotting was 90% accurate!
We plan to repeat this type of weekend several times in 2003.
