Newsletter Vol 5 Issue 1. 13th April 2003 .......Editor: Mike H Scott PADI MSDT 600664

The Diving "Season" has Started!

Two dive days have already been completed; On Friday 28th March 2003 a group of divers went to Stoney Cove. This was used mainly as a check out dive for the start of the season. But a fun day was enjoyed by all and the visibility was good. Some other members took the opportunity of good weather on Sunday 6th April 2003 to dive in Lyme Bay and do a couple of 20 meter dives on the ledges. The visibily was 20 meters or so and a good days diving was had. This was unfortunately marred by the news of the missing diver on the Pomeranian, on our group returning to shore.

We continue to be the most active SCUBA Club in the area....

LYME BAY INCIDENT
In poor visibility - stick VERY close together...
On Sunday 6th April a 19 year-old female diver failed to return to the surface after a dive on the wreck of the Pomeranian. Her body has not yet been recovered. Any club member discovering the body should do the following:
Attach your delayed SMB to the body (tank valve, BCD, whatever is suitable) and send to the surface. Having set the line length with a little slack in it, surface following the delayed SMB line. Inform the boat crew of your find. The skipper will then call in the discovery to the Coastguard. Do no more than this!
